Chlorophyll Printing Workshop

  • Richmond Nature Park 11851 Westminster Highway Richmond, BC, V6X 1B4 Canada (map)

Pre-Workshop: Participants will be invited to share meaningful photographs via email for personal inclusions in this workshop. I will use the contributed photographs as well as a selection of my own imagery (including sourced) to create transparencies in preparation for this printmaking session.

The workshop will commence with an introduction to chlorophyll printing and its historic uses. We will then walk through the nature park to forage leaves suitable for the exposures, with assistance from park biologist or naturalist.
Educational components will include understanding chlorophyll’s role in the process of photosynthesis; in turn we will be mimicking this process by using the chlorophyll and sunlight to create photographic prints.

We will return to the shelter to create the prints on the foraged leaves; making 3 each.

Discussion space will be established for individuals who wish to share insight regarding the subject matter they selected for their prints and the interconnection/symbolic layers of imagery and portraiture produced on leaves, etc.

The leaves will be scanned onsite for inclusion in the Legacy public artwork and participants will have the option to take them home.

Please pack a lunch for this workshop.
