I was honored to be commissioned by the City of Richmond to create a permanent public art installation. My vision came to life in the form of art-wrapped recycling receptacles, now a fixture of Steveston Village and Garry Point Park. In this site-specific work, I chose to feature the Sockeye Salmon, a species that migrates to our local estuary and one of four that grace these waters. My design, bright and engaging from multiple perspectives, aims to draw the eye and encourage visitors to dispose of their waste responsibly. It is my hope that this vibrant depiction of the Sockeye Salmon will not only beautify our public spaces but also serve as a reminder of our collective responsibility to the environment.
