Art & Stewardship

I was invited by Two Rivers Gallery, in Northern BC, to facilitate a creative workshop for the community of Prince George, in October of 2023.
As my artwork Plasticosis, was part of the current group exhibition, ‘NONRETURNABLES’, I wanted to orient this workshop around creating cyanotypes on textiles, as this was the process I used to create the work on exhibit. The session commenced with a brief overview of the exhibition and a deconstruction of my installation. We then departed the gallery to embark on an accessible hike through a local nature park to gather inspiration. The group was instructed to only take items fallen to the ground and encouraged to look at unconventional subject matter, like littler, etc. We returned to the gallery’s upper-level sculpture garden and started creating compositional layouts in preparation for the final exposures. As a group we spent four hours enjoying the crisp fall day, creating artwork outdoors as a community. Ample time was established for the group to forge new bonds and reconnect with old friends. A heartfelt thank you to Two Rivers Gallery for bringing me up to Northern B.C. to share a magical day creating with the local community.
