Anthotype Workshop

  • Richmond Nature Park 11851 Westminster Highway Richmond, BC, V6X 1B4 Canada (map)

Coinciding with the agricultural harvesting season for blueberries, we will create anthotype prints from making blueberry emulsion (berries purchased from a local farm with the potential of including invasive plant berries harvested within the park) and collectively coating paper substrates.

While the paper is drying, we will host an informative walk through the Nature Park with a site biologist or naturalist, learning about the blueberries found within the park, both native and invasive. We will sustainably harvest natural subject matter with guiding principles of conservational foraging led by the biologist/naturalist, with facets of educational information provided about both invasive and native seasonal plant species found within the park.

The compositions will be laid out on the tables at the shelter, and we will aim to start the exposure process at mid-day.

As the exposure time will likely exceed the duration of the workshop, I will stay on-site to complete the process and scan the prints once completed. Participants will be invited to stay to enjoy the park while waiting or come back to pick-up their artworks another day at the Nature House. Scanned artworks will be included in the Public Artwork.

Please pack a lunch for this workshop.
