Shades of Biophilia, is a developing series that depicts ethereal collages of native foliage assembled through an arduous process of camera-less photography and modern digital workflow. The foundations for each artwork are established via the cyanotype process, featuring sustainably harvested specimens found within the wilderness of BC. The silhouetted plants are then digitized and collaged, layer upon layer. As the cyanotypes are surrendered to an uncontrolled process of time, UV light, and elements of nature; respectively, I surrender the digital process of collaging to intuitive inspirations that influence my attempts to replicate the affinity of connection I find while immersed within Nature.
This body of work has become a meditative process that visually portrays my inner experience while I seek peace and solitude in Nature, feeling restored by the innate belonging I have to these ecosystems. I am not just a visitor; I am in realization of my oneness with Mother Earth. Each artwork is a poetic inscription of this notion; this longing to be one with all and explore my role in the symbiotic web of life.
